Nordstrom Rack to Return to San Francisco with New Store
SEATTLE, October 15, 2026 -- Seattle-based fashion retailer Nordstrom, Inc. announced plans to re-enter the San Francisco market with a new Nordstrom Rack store at 2 Stockton Street. The new store is scheduled to open in fall 2027.
“Nordstrom has a long history in San Francisco, and we’re excited to bring Nordstrom Rack back downtown. The city has many wonderful assets, and it has clearly built momentum in making downtown a great place for customers. We look forward to welcoming new and returning Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack customers to our store,” said Erik Nordstrom, co-CEO of Nordstrom.
The 51,500-square-foot store will be located at 2 Stockton Street, San Francisco, CA 94108. This building is owned and managed by Invesco Real Estate and is in the Union Square neighborhood.
"Three years ago, companies were leaving San Francisco. Today, they want to be here, and Nordstrom Rack’s decision to return to the heart of our city is another sign of the growing confidence in San Francisco. We're making our streets safer and cleaner, bringing people back downtown, cutting red tape, and creating the conditions for businesses to succeed," said San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie. "I'm thrilled that Nordstrom is choosing to invest in San Francisco again and look forward to welcoming Nordstrom Rack to 2 Stockton Street as we continue building on our city's momentum.”
Nordstrom Rack is the off-price retail division of Nordstrom, Inc. and offers customers up to 70% off on-trend apparel, accessories, beauty products, home decor and shoes from many of the top brands sold at Nordstrom stores as well as core services like online order pickup for Nordstrom.com and NordstromRack.com, easy returns and alterations at select stores. Nordstrom Rack is the largest source of new customers to Nordstrom.
“We look forward to bringing Nordstrom Rack to downtown San Francisco and serving our customers with an amazing offering of great brands at great prices,” said Gemma Lionello, president of Nordstrom Rack. “Customers will be able to take advantage of our convenient services such as online order pickup from both Nordstrom.com and NordstromRack.com, and they can make returns easily.”
This new location expands the company’s physical footprint and economic impact in the San Francisco Bay Area, a market where Nordstrom has deep roots and continues to invest, including the October 2025 opening of its Nordstrom Local Fillmore location in the city’s Pacific Heights neighborhood. The company currently operates 21 Nordstrom stores, 70 Nordstrom Rack stores and six Nordstrom Locals in California, generating more than 11,200 jobs statewide.
