Met Gala 2022: Behind-the-Scenes with Rickie De Sole

The first Monday in May is one of the biggest nights in fashion. Our very own SVP of Designer and New Concepts, Sam Lobban, Women's Designer Fashion & Editorial Director Rickie De Sole and Men’s Fashion & Editorial Director Jian Deleon attended the annual Met Gala on behalf of Nordstrom. Joined by them were CVFF finalist LaQuan Smith, longtime Nordstrom partner and designer Brandon Maxwell, and founder of the Fifteen Percent Pledge and Brother Vellies Aurora James. To kick off the evening, the group gathered at the iconic Plaza Hotel for a champagne toast, light bites and photo opps before heading to the red carpet.

The theme of the gala this year was, “In America: An Anthology of Fashion,” which served as an exploration of American fashion as a follow up to the September 2021’s theme, “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.” Rickie De Sole worked directly with designer LaQuan Smith to create a custom, red sequined, long sleeve gown for the evening. LaQuan Smith is also designing a shorter version of the dress which will be available for customers shop on Nordstrom.com
